Scope
Fujian is a private-sector and export-oriented coastal province on the Taiwan Strait, centred on Fuzhou, Quanzhou and Xiamen. Province-wide figures cover the whole territory—do not treat the total as a single coastal city cluster.
Boundary
Resident population is year-end province-wide. At about 41.93 million it concentrates along the coastal belt, while the mountainous interior is more sparsely settled. Administrative area (124,000 sq km) is land area inside the provincial boundary, not built-up area; it excludes the large sea area under Fujian's jurisdiction.
Economy
In 2024, Fujian's GDP reached 5.78 trillion yuan. Services accounted for 51.5 percent, and per-resident GDP is among the highest of any Chinese province. 2024 industry structure: primary 5.7%, secondary 42.8%, tertiary 51.5%. Real GDP growth was 5.5%.
International scale check
Selected for similar economic scale: Belgium.
Not a like-for-like rank
Belgium's nominal GDP (~US$0.66T, IMF 2024) places it in a similar mid-size-economy band to Fujian's province GDP after USD conversion (~US$0.83T); the gap is larger than for other provinces, so treat as an order-of-magnitude check only.
Fujian is a coastal Chinese province; Belgium is a compact high-income sovereign state. GDP proximity is loose and structural comparisons are not valid.

Official data quick answers
These answers read the existing formal Fujian province dataset directly rather than maintaining a second copy of the numbers. All three use province-wide administrative scope.
41.93 million people
Province-wide resident population at year-end 2024.
5.78 trillion yuan
2024 province-wide GDP at current prices.
124,000 sq km
Provincial land administrative area, not built-up urban area and not the sea area under Fujian jurisdiction.
Year boundary: the province-wide macro snapshot above uses the formal 2024 dataset. Signature-industry cards below use their own 2024/2025 official sources; a newer industry reference year does not update the province-wide GDP or population year.
