The series uses retrospective annual shares from CPCA deep-analysis reports. When later reports revise overlapping years, the later vintage is preferred. Published one-decimal shares can sum slightly above or below 100% because of rounding.

2018–2025 · annual manufacturer Top 10
Ranking entities are manufacturers or joint-venture operating companies, not pure consumer brands. If a manufacturer is outside CPCA’s Top 10 in a year, that observation remains missing rather than being filled with zero.

Different from motor-vehicle production
The motor-vehicle production indicator asks how many vehicles were produced in a year. This page asks which brand-origin groups and manufacturers captured China’s domestic narrow passenger-car retail market.
View motor vehicle production →Relationship to NEVs
The NEV indicator tracks new-energy-vehicle production and stock. This page classifies the retail market by brand origin and manufacturer. The two trends are related but statistically distinct.

FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC Volkswagen, or FAW Toyota and GAC Toyota, are separate CPCA manufacturer entities. They are not combined into synthetic Volkswagen or Toyota brand totals without a separately governed aggregation method.
